Why Our Familys Least Favorite Disney Park is Animal Kingdom
Why Our Family's Least Favorite Disney Park is Animal Kingdom
When it comes to Disney parks, our family's least favorite remains the majestic but unwelcoming Animal Kingdom. Despite being home to the most popular ride among the four Disney World parks, Flight of Passage, several factors contribute to our less-than-enthusiastic impressions. Let's delve into why we find Animal Kingdom to be our least favorite and what we love about the other parks in Disney World.
Why Animal Kingdom Falls Short
Heavy Focus on Animals: For a family that isn't particularly into zoos, Animal Kingdom can be a challenging environment. The park is designed to look like a zoo, with more emphasis on animal exhibits rather than thrilling rides or interactive entertainment. This can make it less appealing, especially when you consider the long wait times and the limited opportunities for families to enjoy the non-animal aspects of the park.
Flight of Passage Delayed Satisfaction: While Flight of Passage is undeniably a fantastic attraction, the park's obsession with requiring Fast Passes for a limited time window can be frustrating. As resort guests, we often find that our window to secure Fast Passes is shorter than visitors staying on property, leading to disappointment.
Our Experiences at Other Parks
The Magic Kingdom: The Most Crowded
The Magic Kingdom is a must-see for any Disney World visitor, but it gets extremely crowded by mid-morning. By 1 pm, the park practically becomes a maddening sea of humanity. We usually reserve mornings for magical morning experiences with out-of-town guests, as it remains the least crowded then. However, we often opt for Epcot, a favorite of many, despite its long wait times and somewhat uninspiring rides.
Epcot: A World of Discovery
While Epcot offers a unique experience with its numerous country pavilions, the rides are not as exciting. The wait times are indeed daunting, but we enjoy wandering around the park and taking in the unique exhibits and world cultures. We're eagerly anticipating the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster, which is bound to liven up the parks even more.
The Current Favorite: Disney's Hollywood Studios
As of now, Disney's Hollywood Studios tops our list. Although there is considerable construction, it provides the least amount of attractions and dining choices among the four parks. The reimagined theme park is set to get better with the addition of Star Wars Land, which promises to bring a whole new level of excitement. However, current issues related to construction and limited rides make it harder to enjoy the full experience.
Vanilla Observations: The Hollywood Studios vs Dreamworld
Comparing Disney's Hollywood Studios and California Adventure, it's clear that both parks offer unique experiences. However, the latter often feels more vibrant and inviting. Hollywood Studios, despite its current shortcomings, is the clear favorite for its immersive theme and promise of future improvements.
Future Prospects
Disney's current strategy seems to be focused on the experiences that the middle and upper classes enjoy. However, there's an underlying lack of innovation and creativity that can detract from the overall experience. While some improvements like Star Wars Land and Flying Banjos in Ring World show promise, more creativity is needed. The acquisition of Pixar and the development of Flying Banjos in Ring World hint at a possible resurgence in creativity, but it remains to be seen if it will be sustainable.
For now, we hope that Disney continues to evolve and innovate, bringing back the magic of the golden days of Disney and creating even more magical experiences for families and visitors alike.
