Similarly, the fur can protect their skin from the harsh sun and other environmental hazards like thorns or spines, further showcasing the versatility of fur in adaptive strategies.

My question should perhaps be: Why don't we have hair over our entire bodies?This leads us to an interesting discussion about our own evolutionary traits. Humans possess extensive sweat gland distribution across our body, which allows us to remain active in hot climates without overheating. As a result, we excel as persistence hunters, a trait that few other creatures possess. This adaptability to heat is a remarkable feature of our species that sets us apart from many other mammals.

However, it's important to recognize that even in very hot climates, it inevitably gets colder at some points. Therefore, the question of why some animals have fur becomes clearer when we understand the need to maintain some level of insulation to survive the cold. Key species like camels, fennec foxes, and kangaroo rats, among others, all have their unique fur adaptations to cope with these fluctuations in temperature.
