The True Harm: AKP or PKK for the Turkish Nation

It is no doubt that any person or group that deviates from Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's vision of the Turkish nation is harmful and dangerous. In today's political landscape, all institutions are working to undermine the foundation laid by Atatürk, which includes both the ruling and opposition parties. However, when comparing the AKP and the PKK, the former poses a greater threat due to its control by extremist elements.

More Harmful: AKP or PKK?

While both groups can be detrimental to the Turkish nation, the AKP is more dangerous compared to the PKK. The PKK, a group of bandits, presents a known threat with known intentions, whereas the AKP, controlled by various Cemats and extremist groups, represents an unknown and more insidious threat. These elements within the AKP are fundamentally against the liberal, secular state of Turkey, making them a far greater hazard.

The Iranian Fantasy of Extremists

For me, a brainwashed, misinformed, and extremist Turkish individual, incapable of managing the modern state and society, represents a more significant threat than the PKK. The intestinal warfare stemming from such individuals is not only psychologically corrosive but also physically destructive. As Atatürk's vision for a secular, liberal state was a beacon of hope, the actions of the AKP have dashed these hopes, especially by turning Hagia Sophia into a mosque.

Historical Context and Concerns

Turkey's history is marked by a poor record of coexistence and managing non-Turkish ethnicities. The wounds inflicted by Turks on neighboring nations are numerous, highlighting the need for a more inclusive and understanding approach. Accepting the existence of other nations and cultures is crucial for long-term peace and stability. Turbulent and violent actions must be avoided, as they can lead to undeliberate harm.

The Lessons of History: Hagia Sophia and Ataturk's Secularism

The transformation of Hagia Sophia into a mosque by the AKP has been particularly troubling. This act not only offended historical sensibilities but also set a troubling precedent. It is important to remember how this building was acquired and the inhumane methods used to acquire it, as such actions can lead to further violence and awaken ancient grudges among neighboring nations. The secularism championed by Atatürk provided a path for humanity, and the reversal of this value now places Turkey in a precarious position.

The Personal View and Public Opinion

While this perspective is ultimately my personal opinion, it is a reflection of the broader sentiment among many who fear for the future of Turkey. It is crucial for the Turkish people to reflect on the path they wish to take and ensure that their nation continues on a trajectory of peace, prosperity, and respect for all its citizens, regardless of ethnicity or belief.

It is clear that the political landscape of Turkey is complex, and finding a balance that respects Atatürk's legacy while addressing the needs of all Turkish citizens is a daunting task. Nonetheless, it is a task that must be undertaken to ensure the safety and prosperity of the Turkish nation for generations to come.
