Perfect 8-Day Itinerary for Bangkok with a Kid: A Family-Friendly Guide
Planning an 8-day trip to Bangkok? Whether you're a bachelor, honeymoon couple, or a family with a young child, the perfect itinerary can make all the difference. We've compiled a comprehensive guide for you, based on various traveler preferences and needs.
Itinerary Breakdown
Planning an 8-day trip to Bangkok can be tailored to suit different categories of travelers. Here are some suggestions based on different travel styles:
For Bachelors
Bachelors might want to split their trip into 3 Nights in Bangkok and 3 Nights in Pattaya. Pattaya offers a night-time oasis with vibrant nightlife and a variety of entertainment options. However, for a more relaxed and romantic experience, you might consider investing in a honeymoon package, which could include 2 Nights in Phuket, 2 Nights in Bangkok, and 2 Nights in Krabi.
For Adventure Lovers
Adventure-seeking travelers might prefer a mix of natural landscapes and mountainous regions. For such travelers, a 2 Days in Chiang Mai, 1 Day in Chiang Rai, 1 Day in Bangkok, and 2 Days in Kanchanaburi could be a perfect itinerary. This mix allows you to explore the lush forests, mountains, and the scenic riverside areas of Bangkok.
A Family-Friendly Itinerary in Bangkok
Our family recently completed a 5-day vacation in Bangkok with our 4-year-old, and here’s what we experienced and recommend.
Accommodation and Relaxation
After returning from our trip, we decided to stay at the riverside in Ramada Plaza. This choice helped us avoid the crowded Sukhumvit area and enjoy the beautiful Chao Phraya River views. In particular, we stayed at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Bangkok Menam Riverside, a luxurious hotel that offers a prime riverside location.
Entertainment and Attractions
For a change in scenery, we chose to visit Bangkok Safari. Although the heat and humidity were intense, the animal shows and interactions were well worth the experience. We learned a lot about wildlife and Thai culture. Be sure to bring your own stroller or rent one to help your little one avoid too much walking in the heat.
Other days, we enjoyed lazy mornings by the hotel pool, waking up later and enjoying a leisurely breakfast followed by swimming in the pool. One day, we headed to SIAM Paragon for shopping, and while there, we also visited S.E.A Aquarium. If you've already seen the S.E.A. Aquarium in Singapore, then you might want to skip this and focus on more shopping.
Evenings and Relaxation
For evening activities, our family enjoyed the charming Asiatique Riverfront. There, we did some shopping and then found a restaurant with a river view, where we sipped on some of Bangkok's best tropical cocktails. A stroll along the riverbanks during the evening was equally delightful and relaxing.
Dinner Cruise Experience
We also wanted to experience a dinner cruise, but we were resistant to the overly crowded and touristy options. After extensive research and reviews, we found the Loy Nava Dinner Cruises. This was by far the best dinner cruise in Bangkok. The luxury rice barge turned cruise showcases Thai culture and dining in a unique, quieter environment.
Overall, we had the best time in Bangkok. We attribute this to our flexible itinerary and doing things on impulse whenever we felt inspired. If you're traveling with a child, adjustments to the itinerary and staying flexible can be as valuable as the attractions themselves.
Remember, the key is to find the right balance between sightseeing, relaxation, and activities that keep both adults and kids engaged and happy. Enjoy your trip to Bangkok!
