Choosing Wisely: The Impact of Electoral Outcomes on Christian Values

Dear John and fellow believers, the upcoming election is a significant decision that transcends politics. It's not just about who will be the next president but about aligning our actions with our faith and values. While the moral and ethical issues presented by both candidates are important, we must also consider the scriptural implications and the overall message our collective vote conveys.

The Nuance of Christian Stance and Voting

First and foremost, we should reevaluate the idea that simply doing the right thing and upholding biblical teachings guarantees election results. Like the righteousness described in the Law of Moses, our actions alone do not create divine approval. Instead, true righteousness comes from faith in Christ, who died for our sins (Romans 3:21-26).

Christians are called to fulfill every scripture (Matthew 5:18), and one of those scriptures speaks about the 'delusion' mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2 (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12). This 'delusion' is a key part of the plan of God, not something to be fought against when it occurs. It is a means through which the church can be brought to repentance, and it is necessary for the fulfillment of prophecy and the second coming of Christ (Matthew 24:21-22).

Personal and Collective Repentance

The election can also be seen as a reminder of the need for personal and collective repentance. In a symbolic sense, Christians are called to 'walk in sackcloth' for a time, mirroring the two witnesses described in Revelation (Revelation 11:3-7). This period of 'walking in sackcloth' for 3 1/2 years (Revelation 11:2) mirrors the length of time the two witnesses prophesy (Revelation 11:3).

The number of 200 million believers, mentioned by the author, point towards the vast number of voices that can come together in repentance and witness during troubling times. This group is to be like a "great crowd" described in Revelation 7 (Revelation 7:9), united in faith and ready to fulfill their role in the end times.

Understanding the Symbolism and Philippians 2:10-11

Scriptures such as Philippians 2:10-11 stress the importance of all things being subject to Christ. Just as Christ laid down His life for us, so must we as believers be willing to suffer, bear witness, and even ‘die’ to the old, carnal ways in order to be sanctified and submitted to His will. This includes understanding and accepting the role that even false prophets play in fulfilling God’s plan.

While the election of someone like Donald Trump may seem troubling, it is within the broader context of God's sovereignty and the prophecies in the Bible. The 'mark of the beast' symbolizes the ultimate rejection of Christ and His truth (Revelation 13:16-18). This event, along with others, will hasten the second coming of Christ and bring about a time of great testing and purification for the faithful.

Conclusion

In our journey as Christians, the vote is a small but significant act. While Donald Trump or Kamala Harris may present different scenarios, both should be seen through the lens of biblical prophecy and the unique era we live in. Ultimately, our focus should be on understanding and upholding the true principles of our faith, even in the face of political uncertainty and turmoil.

As we draw closer to the second coming of Christ, the importance of our actions and testimonies will be tested. Voting, whether for Trump, Kamala Harris, or any other candidate, should be a decision that aligns with our Christian values and the overall plan of redemption.
